Andrew Garfield over Spider-ManAndrew Garfield is in heel korte tijd uitgegroeid tot een van de grootste jonge sterren in Hollywood. De Amerikaans-Britse acteur brak in 2007 door met de film Boy A, waarna hij al snel rollen kreeg aangeboden in films The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus en The Other Boleyn Girl.
Maar dat was nog maar het begin voor Garfield, die dit jaar onder meer te zien zal zijn in de nieuwe film van David Fincher, The Social Network, en Never Let me Go, een prestigieuze verfilming van het boek van Kazuo Ishiguro. En dan is hij ook nog eens bezig met de voorbereidingen op de Spider-Man reboot, waarin hij de hoofdrol zal spelen. Over de voorbereidingen op die film sprak hij met The Hollywood Reporter.
I have been waiting for this phone call for 24 years, for someone to call me up and say, Hey, we want you to pretend to be a character that youve always wanted to be all your life, and were going to do it with cool cameras and cool effects and youre going to feel like youre swinging through New York City. So my seven-year-old self started screaming in my soul and saying, This is what weve been waiting for. Like every young boy who feels stronger on the inside than they look on the outside, any skinny boy basically who wishes their muscles matched their sense of injustice, God, its just the stuff that dreams are made of, for sure. Its a true fucking honor to be part of this symbol that I actually think is a very important symbol and its meant a great deal to me, and it continues to mean something to people. So yeah, I feel like Ive been preparing for it for a while. Ever since Halloween when I was four years old and I wore my first Spider-Man costume. |
